The world’s largest mobile, trailer-mounted boiler, previously an active member of Nationwide Boiler Inc.’s rental fleet, has been sold to a brewery in Western Tennessee. The 120,000 lb/hr, 400 psig design saturated steam, Nebraska watertube boiler was originally manufactured in 2005 and had been on a number of short- and long-term rentals. Due to the one hundred plus foot length of the boiler and trailer combination, special transportation permits, pilot escorts and a road survey were required for shipment to the end-user’s facility.
The brewery originally contacted Power Equipment Company, Nationwide Boiler’s local sales representative in Memphis, TN, looking for a rental or purchase option to replace one of their older existing boilers. Power Equipment Co. and Nationwide Boiler worked together to offer the best solution to fit the customer’s requirement. The determining factors for the purchase decision were the immediate availability of a used boiler that was ready-for-service, it could be quickly delivered and installed, and it supported the brewery’s expansion plans. .
The customer traveled to Nationwide Boiler’s headquarters in Fremont, CA to inspect the boiler and ancillary equipment and a purchase order was issues several days later. The equipment has since been delivered to the customer and is currently being installed at their facility. The boiler included an EconoStak economizer for added fuel efficiency.
After delivery, the boiler was removed from the trailer and rolled into its final location in the steam plant on its new, pre-engineered base rails, also furnished by Nationwide Boiler. A replacement boiler for Nationwide Boiler’s fleet will soon be ordered and the existing trailer will be re-used for mobilization.
